Areas of Focus

The Steinman Foundation currently prioritizes three strategic program areas: Local Journalism and Media Literacy, Economic and Workforce Development with a focus on STEM Education, and Early Childhood Development. The Steinman Foundation also accepts grant applications under its Community Stewardship program, through which a broad array of local nonprofit work within Lancaster County is supported. 

The Foundation only supports organizations serving residents of Lancaster County, PA.

Applicant Information

  • Applicants must be nonprofit, charitable organizations designated as 501(c)(3) public charities by the IRS.
  • Organizations must serve residents of Lancaster County, PA.
  • The minimum grant amount is $5,000; proposals below this threshold will not be considered unless otherwise indicated.

Funding Priorities

  • Priority is given to programmatic opportunities over general operating support and bricks and mortar.
  • Collaborative programs engaging multiple partner organizations are strongly encouraged.
  • The Foundation does not award grants to individuals or for-profit entities.
